HELLO ALL,
I OWN A REPEATER LIKE THIS AND IM LOOKING FOR SOME HELP.
1) HOW CAN I EXTEND THE "TAIL" OF THE REPEATER??? IS TOO SHORT AND DIFICULT TO UNDERSTOOD IF THE REPEATER IS ACTIVE OR NOT. FALLS TO FAST AFTER THE END OF TRANSMISSION.
2) ANY IDEA HOW TO USE SUBTONES and A ROGER BEEP??
3) AT THE BACK OF REPETER ARE 2 CONNECTORS EXCEPT RS-232 ARE ANY USEFULL USES AND ANY PINOUT CONFIG FOR THEM??
I WILL USE THIS REPEATER FOR EMERGENCY COMMS AND IM TRYING TO GET THE MAXIMUM OF ITS COPABILITIES.
PSE ANSWER ME AT sv5byr@hol.gr

For more info about the TXU-1256 repeater you can better drop your question in this thread :http://www.zendamateur.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1183
I hope they can help you over there. I know that there are a few guys who totally dismanteled the repeater so they know all the in's and out's of the hardware.
Good luck.

I'm aware of the fact that you can't speak Dutch but what I ment to say is that there are a lot of people who can help you on this forum and most likely they can answer in English as well! Greek is not so common on this forum .
My Greek stops at: γεια σας which means 'Hallo' in Dutch

Re: TXU-1256 QUESTIONS
It is not very easy to extend the tail. Most commonly an external controller is used. For example one of the controllers of ICS: http://www.ics-ctrl.com/ With such a controller it is also possible to introduce CTCSS/subaudible.
There are some hams who have developped some kind of a software solution, by changing the internal firmware of the repeater. This is however not without any risk. There are some cases in which the repeater CPU became unusable, so my favorable method would be with the ICS-controller (which can be mounted inside the repeater).
We have a special discussion on the forum about this type of repeater. It is in Dutch however, but you can meet people there who have some experience with both the firmware and the ICS-solution.

Re: TXU-1256 QUESTIONS
Hi Mike,
I really am no expert on using the ICS. I started experimenting with a TXU-1256 about 2 years ago with an experimental controller of my own design, but I stopped halfways in the design because I got involved with an FM repeater on 10m and a D-STAR-repeater on 70 cm.
Someone who uses the Basic controller from ICS to control a TXU-1256 for example is Dirk, ON5CT from Belgium. He is also a member of this forum.
See:
http://www.zendamateur.com/viewtopic.ph ... ics#p19033
Maybe Dirk can help you any further.
Kind regards,
John
