Rules for non ON Stations
The UBA has the honour to announce that this contest will be challenged under the Patronage of the EC Commission, responsible for Communication, Information and Culture.
The 19th EUROPEAN UNION TROPHY will be awarded to the highest scoring EC member station from both the CW and SSB Single Operator competition.
1. Purpose
To contact as many Belgian and other amateurs as possible and to provide a way to achieve the WABP and the EC Awards in the "UBA Contest".
2. Periods
SSB January 28 - January 29, 2006 (starting the last Saturday of January).
CW February 25 - February 26, 2006 (starting the last Saturday of February).
13:00 UTC Saturday to 13:00 UTC Sunday.
3. Classes
A. Single Operator Single Band Low Power <100 W and High Power >100 W (A10, A15, A20, A40, A80).
C.Single Operator Multi Band Low Power <100 W and High Power >100 W (5 bands).
D. Multi Operator Single Transmitter (5 bands).
E. QRP max. 10 Wout on SSB and max. 5 Wout on CW, as class C.
F. SWL, as class C (Rules under item 11).
REMARKS:
Stations in category D are limited by the "10 minute" rule. A station must stay at least 10 minutes on a band before changing bands. Starting time will be determined by the first QSO made on that particular band.
Cat B doesn't exist for harmonisation reasons
4. Bands
Bands to be used: 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters. The IARU band plan as well as the frequencies proposed by the HF Contest committee must be adhered to. At this time, the preferential frequencies are:
CW: 3.510 - 3.560; 7.000 - 7.035; 14.000 - 14.060; 21.000 - 21.080 & 28.000 - 28.070 MHz.
SSB: 3.600 - 3.650; 3.700 - 3.775; 7.040 - 7.100; 14.125 - 14.300; 21.175 - 21.350 & 28.400 - 28.700 MHz.
The band segments 3.500 - 3.510 and 3.775 - 3.800 shall not be used unless for DX contacts (this means no one shall call "CQ Contest" in those segments).
5. Contest Call and exchange
CW "TEST UBA";
SSB "CQ UBA".
Exchange: RS(T) + serial number starting from 001 for each log
Note that Belgian stations give their province abbreviation which is a mandatory part of the exchange and must be in the log (e.g. 59001/WV).
6. Scoring
Each QSO with a Belgian station counts 10 points.
Each QSO with another EU member station as listed below counts 3 points.
QSO's with any other station outside the EU counts 1 point.
7. Multipliers
All Belgian provinces: AN, BW, HT, LB, LG, NM, LU, OV, VB and WV. The region of Brussels : BR
All Belgian prefixes e.g. ON4, ON5, ON6, ON7, ON8, ON9, OR0/4, OT4, etc....
The following DXCC countries from the European Community:
5B, 9H, CT, CT3, CU, DL, EA, EA6, EA8, EI, ES, F, FG, FM, FR , FY, G, GD, GI, GJ, GM, GU, GW, HA, I, IS, LX, LY, OE, OH, OH0, OJ0, OK , OM, OZ, PA, S5, SM, SP, SV, SV5, SV9, SY, TK, YL
Remark: a QSO with a Belgian station can give you 2 multipliers (province and prefix). Multiplizrs count once on each band.
8. Final score
Total QSO points (from all bands) times the total number of multiplier points (from all bands).
9. Special Conditions
The use of DX-Cluster facilities is permitted.
10. Logs
Number of logs
Only 1 log per station will be accepted.
Logs on floppy or by Email
We strongly encourage participants to use a freeware log software as SDU from EI5DI, N1MM Logger or WinOnContest from ON4AVJ. The UBA HF manager will send you a copy upon request and after having received a SAE with a formatted disk from you. We need the CABRILLO (CBR) file wich can be generated by each of those programms. Rename the files to MYCALL.CBR where « MYCALL » is your call sign. .
Paper logs
Logs on paper will only be accepted if they are handwritten. Every log made up by computer must be accompanied by the computerfiles.
Summary sheet or Cabrillo header must include:
- Your call sign.
- Your Name, first name and complete address.
- The category in which you took part.
- For the Multi op station, the complete list of operators.
- The log summary sheet shall contain the following signed declaration : "I declare that all contest rules and all the rules and regulations for amateur radio operations in my country have been observed and adhered to. I accept the decisions of the Contest Committee".
Incomplete logs will be used as "Check logs".
Remarks :
A selection of pictures of operators in action will be published with the results, so please send us your picture. Please send your comments with your contest log and send us a picture.
All logs must be postmarked not later than 30 days after the contest. Late logs will not be considered for the competition. The logs must be send to :

Contest logs via E-mail at following address : UBASSB [AT] UBA [.] BE for SSB and
to UBACW [AT] UBA [.] BE for CW. The logs sent by E-mail must meet the specifications as outlined above for computer logs. We will confirm reception of your log by E-mail.
11. Special SWL rules
Only stations taking part in the Contest may be logged for scoring purposes.
Logs should show in columns: Time (UTC), callsign of "Station Heard", complete exchange sent by this station, callsign of station being worked, a RS(T) report on "Station Heard" at SWLs QTH, new multiplier and points claimed. If both sides of a contest contact are heard they may be claimed as separate stations and the callsigns have to appear in the "Station Heard" column. A station may only appear once per band as station heard. In the column "Station Worked" the same station may not be logged more than 10 times per band.

12. Awards
Awards will be sent to the highest scoring stations from each class in each country provided they have logged at least 40 valid contacts. Other participants receive a certificate when 40 valid contacts are logged.
The EU TROPHIES go to the EU winners in the Single Operator class (A, C or E) depending on who scores the most points of both the CW and the Phone contest.
13. Penalties are disqualification can be given for:
Incomplete, incorrect or unreadable exchanges: the QSO will count for zero points, but no additional penalty will be applied.
QSO's in violation of the 10 minute rule will be removed from the log.
For cheating, imaginary logging and clear, repetitive and intentional violation of the contest rules.
For continuous or repetitive violation or total negation of the IARU band plan.
The decisions of the contest committee are final.
