HRD is enorm veranderd ondertussen.

As mentioned in my previous newsletter, our 6.5.0.183 release represented a whole lot of work. It's been very effective. The number of errors that have been reported to Microsoft (where we collect data) has dropped off to a level that I would almost call "statistically insignificant."
This is a BIG deal. If I were being objective and fair, I would say that there were times - prior to early 2017 - where our releases weren't always stable. But with the new developers and tools we're using, the releases are extremely solid.
That said, the 6.5.0.183 release was done in a "platform change" from Visual Studio 2015 to Visual Studio 2017. These kinds of changes are significant. This is why we worked on this code migration during the release blackout between 1-Nov and 2-Jan.

Upcoming Ham Radio Deluxe Release
We are in beta with a number of updates to Ham Radio Deluxe. I wanted to take a minute to describe them for you.
To digress a bit, the 6.5.0.813 release was significant for a number of reasons. One - it included a code migration from Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 to Visual Studio 2017 (meanwhile, Microsoft has Visual Studio 2019 is "in-preview"). These changes can often be complex. And two - there are some underlying code libraries, including Codejock, that needed to be updated. Then there were 86 development items included that were completed during the last 60 days of 2018 (during our release black-out).
With that release, we had three items pop up - 3rd Party Serial Port, SAMDB1.DAT error, and an installation reboot that could leave Ham Radio Deluxe partially installed. We then released an open beta - 6.5.0.188 - that put back the 3rd Party Serial Port capability and cleared the other two errors.
In the next release, there are already 45 development items in beta. There will be more added before this gets released. If you read no further, it's worth pointing out the following...
This upcoming release fixes a number of things related to the Rotor Control App and the Satellite Tracking app. We recently purchased several rotor controllers, rotors, and satellite rigs for our lab. With the assistance of folks like Will (N7IPY), from Portable Rotation, the developer we have assigned to Rotor Control (Jose) made quite a big of progress. I've personally tested his work using Rotor Control and Satellite Tracking with the Portable Rotation PR12SAT AZ/EL rotor, Elk Antennas, and an FT-991A. While I can't say that every single Rotor and Satellite problem will be fixed in this release, it will be a dramatic improvement. It is our goal to get through all the major open items before the Dayton Hamvention. Also in the upcoming release - lots of fixes for the FT-891.
Stay tuned here for more information about the upcoming release.
